Karen Beckman, M.D.

Dr. Karen Beckman
founded Riverside Pediatrics, LLP in January 2006. Dr. Beckman is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Fairfield County Medical Society, the Stamford IPA, and the Connecticut State Medical Society. She speaks Spanish.

Dr.  Beckman grew up in Guilford, Connecticut.  She attended Hamden Hall and then went on to Tufts University where she received a B.S. double majoring in Psychology and Spanish and was in the National Psychology Honors Society. She then attended Tufts University School of Medicine, where she was a peer advisor.  She did her Pediatric Residency at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital where she was chosen to be a Chief Resident.  She opted not to accept that position so that she could pursue her career goal of practicing pediatrics in a private office based setting, where she could develop long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families.  She chose to begin a career at New England Pediatrics with offices in Stamford and New Canaan, Connecticut.  There she developed a large patient following because of her clinical expertise and her warm bed-side manner.  She became partner at the practice during which time she provided ongoing training for and direct supervision of all new pediatricians. She left New England Pediatrics in December, 2005 so that she could open her own practice in Greenwich.

She is married with two sons who attend school in Greenwich, where she and her family have lived since 2000.

Henry Rascoff, MD

Dr. Henry Rascoff joined Riverside Pediatrics, LLP in July, 2006.  Dr. Rascoff is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Stamford IPA and the New York Pediatric Society.  He is conversant in Hebrew.

Dr. Rascoff grew up in New Rochelle, New York.  He attended Ramaz School in Manhattan and then went on to Harvard University, where he concentrated in Mathematics, earning an AB degree with Honors.  After completing pre-medical requirements, he was accepted at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where, in addition to receiving his MD degree, he was awarded grants from both the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the American Heart Association to fund work in a research laboratory.  He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan.  Having gained valuable clinical experience and a large patient following at two practices -- Wasserman and Glassman, based in Mamaroneck, New York, and New England Pediatrics, located in Stamford and New Canaan, Connecticut -- he elected to join Dr. Beckman as a partner in Riverside Pediatrics.

Dr. Rascoff has co-authored several scientific papers, and has had a number of letters published in medical publications as well as in the New York Times

Dr. Rascoff is a member of the Credentialing

Dr. Nancy H. Sedlack

Child psychologist Dr. Nancy H. Sedlack is an on-site consultant at Riverside Pediatrics. She will be available to meet with parents regarding a variety of issues including questions about child development, normal developmental challenges, and social, emotional and behavioral concerns. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Sedlack spent much of her childhood in California where she graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.A. in Psychology with Honors. She moved east to study at Cornell University where she received her Ph.D. in Human Development, studying the development of children in the context of the family. Although initially interested in pursuing a career in research, she found studying individuals more interesting than groups and so re-trained in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. She completed a 2-year Child Psychology Fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center before opening a private psychotherapy practice in Westport. Still fascinated by the issues that intrigued her in graduate school (development in the context of the family), Dr. Sedlack focused her practice on young children and their parents.

During her 15 years of private practice, Dr. Sedlack worked with many parents seeking guidance regarding challenging children or challenging circumstances. These parents often needed information and guidance, but their children did not require therapy. She also saw a number of children whose behavioral problems had escalated unnecessarily because the parents had not received appropriate guidance earlier. Dr. Sedlack became convinced that many parents would welcome an opportunity to consult with a psychologist regarding parenting issues in a setting that addressed the broader health needs of their children. Riverside Pediatrics’ emphasis on caring for the whole child and supporting parents provides an ideal setting for her work.

Married for 20 years, Dr. Sedlack and her husband have three teenage children.
